The practice of athletic training that is an integral part of a program of study by students enrolled in an accredited athletic training education program.
The practice of athletic training is defined as the application of principles, methods, and procedures for managing athletic injuries or conditions, which shall include the prevention, emergency care, clinical examination and assessment, therapeutic intervention, and treatment of athletic injuries or conditions through the use of appropriate preventative and support devices, and within the professional preparation and education of a licensed athletic trainer subject to the general supervision.
The practice of athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination and diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emergent, acute, subacute, and chronic neuromusculoskeletal conditions, and certain medical conditions in order to minimize subsequent impairments, functional limitations, disability, and societal limitations6.
Supervision by a physician shall be continuous but8 shall not be construed as requiring the physical presence of the super-9 vising physician at the time and place where such services are10 performed.11 (c) The practice of athletic training may include use of various clin-12 ically appropriate therapeutic modalities and techniques.
Any person fulfilling the supervised work experience requirements of Section 9 of this Act, if such activities and services constitute a part of the experience necessary to meet the requirements of that Section; or(5) The practice of athletic training under the supervision of a licensed athletic trainer by one who has applied in writing to the Department for licensure and has complied with all the provisions of Section 9except the passing of the examination to be eligible to receive such license.
The practice of athletic training shall not include the practice of physical therapy as defined by the act of October 10, 1975 (P.L.383, No.110), known as the Physical Therapy Practice Act; however, that exclusion shall not operate to prohibit the rendering of athletic training services as defined in the act.
A person meeting the criteria under this paragraph (3) must be designated by a title which clearly indicates his or her status as a student or trainee.(4) (Blank).(5) The practice of athletic training under the supervision of a licensed athletic trainer by one who has applied in writing to the Department for licensure and has complied with all the provisions of Section 9 except the passing of the examination to be eligible to receive such license.
For the purposes of this Act, a team shall be considered based in Illinois if its home contests are held in Illinois, regardless of the location of the team's administrative offices.(8) The practice of athletic training by persons licensed in another state who have applied in writing to the Department for licensure by endorsement.
