Special status definition

Special status means that there is a specific federal statue or DOD policy or directive that authorized certain types of support to the organization under appropriate circumstances. It does not mean that unlimited support may be provided, nor does it mean that support must be provided at the expense of mission accomplishment or degraded readiness. Finally it does not mean the JER does not apply; the JER applies fully unless it is inconsistent with the specific statute or DOD policy or directive.
