Private University definition

Private University means a university duly established through a state Act by a sponsoring body viz. a Society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860, or any other corresponding law for the time being in force in a State of a Public Trust or company registered under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956;
Private University means a university which is not established or maintained out of public funds;
Private University means a university which is established or maintained out of funds other than public funds;

  • Notification issued by the Government under Central/ State Act declaring an Institution as a Central/ State/ Private University or section 3 of UGC Act declaring an Institution as a Deemed to be University.
