Bulk Electric System definition

Bulk Electric System shall have the meaning provided for in the NERC Glossary of Terms used in Reliability Standards, as it may be amended, supplemented, or restated from time to time.

Bulk Electric System or “BES” means unless modified by the lists shown below, all Transmission Elements operated at 100 kV or higher and Real Power and Reactive Power resources connected at 100 kV or higher. This does not include facilities used in the local distribution of electric energy.

Bulk Electric System means the electrical generation resources, transmission lines, interconnections with neighboring systems, and associated equipment, generally operated at voltages of 100 kV or higher. Radial transmission facilities serving load with only one transmission source are generally not included in this definition.

Examples of Bulk Electric System in a sentence

• All generators, if classified as Bulk Electric System (BES), must provide evidence that they have agreement with entities that identify the generator’s NERC defined Generator Owner, Generator Operator, Balancing Authority, Transmission Operator, Transmission Planner, Resource Planner, Transmission Owner (if applicable) and Planning Coordinator.

• Applicability to Bulk Electric System Cyber Systems and InformationPursuant to a directive from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (“NERC”), TPU has implemented policies and procedures for the protection of facilities, systems, assets and information that are critical to the operation or support of the Bulk Electric System (“BES”).
