Shift Relief. Each operator must remain with his coach until relieved. In the event said driver is not relieved at the scheduled time, he shall immediately notify the dispatcher that he has not been relieved, and shall continue to operate said vehicle according to the public schedule until relieved. The dispatcher shall make every effort to relieve said operator as soon as possible. The operator will be compensated for actual extra time worked unless forced. The operator will be paid a minimum of two (2) hours extra time if forced to work.

Shift Relief. Hand over Procedure A formal Shift relief handover will be done daily as prescribed below:  A tactical team shall not leave the post of duty unless the relieving team has arrived;  In the event that no tactical team is required for the next shift, the tactical team will not leave the post of duty until the delegated Eskom employee or security supervisor has arrived and is satisfied that all is in order;  The tactical team taking over must satisfy themselves that all is in order before accepting full responsibility. They must check that any equipment, torches, two-way radios, telephones, firearms, etc are on hand and in operational order. They must also ensure that all required registers are up to date and on hand. Should there be any keys on hand, these must also be checked. The tactical team taking over duty must make an appropriate entry in the OB thereby verifying that all is in order at shift take-over. Any shortcomings must be reported to the security supervisor and ESKOM MANAGER/ SUPERVISOR. It must also be recorded in the OB;  On sites where tactical team perform patrol duties, the tactical team going off duty and the one reporting for duty will do one patrol together to ensure that all is in order before duty is handed over.  The tactical team going off duty must stay and witness the tactical team taking over. They must make an entry in the OB stating their names and that they have handed over duty and full responsibilities to the new team, stating their names. They must also state that everything is in order and all equipment used is operational; and  The new tactical team must make an OB entry confirming that duty and responsibility have been taken over. They must also confirm that everything is in order and all equipment is on hand and operational

Shift Relief. The minimum monthly salary (including shift allowances but excluding overtime payments) for a continuous shift employee who may be called upon to do shift duties will be 10% higher than the combined total of that employee’s rate for the hours worked and for any periods of paid sick/carer’s leave granted within the same month. Any penalty rate accrued during the same pay month is to be deducted from the 10% loading.
