Organizational issues. For an ND study to proceed smoothly, a plan of action must be developed which documents the scientific, technical, administrative and procedural activities and tasks that are needed to successfully complete it. Figure 6.3 provides an overview of the 22 critical activities and tasks which are necessary to run a successful ND study. These activities and tasks are documented drawing on lessons learned from Field Operational Tests conducted in Europe, the United States, Japan, Australia and elsewhere, and documented by the FESTA project, but that are equally applicable to ND research.
