Non-Veterans After Probation. An employee who has completed the probationary period and who is not a Veteran has a right to appeal to the Civil Service Commission only a suspension of over thirty (30) days, a permanent demotion (including salary decreases), or a discharge, if the employee submits a notice of appeal within ten (10) calendar days of the date of mailing by the Employer of notice of the disciplinary action.

Veterans: Pursuant to the Minnesota Veterans Preference Act Minnesota Statutes §197.46, an employee who is a Veteran has a right to appeal to the Civil Service Commission or to arbitration a permanent demotion (including salary decreases), or a discharge, if the employee submits a notice of appeal within thirty (30) calendar days of the date of mailing by the Employer of notice of the disciplinary action, regardless of status with respect to the probationary period.
