BEREAVEMENT AND JURY DUTY. 14.01 In the event of a death in the immediate family of a full time employee, the employee shall be entitled to three (3) working days off with pay at the appropriate rate if scheduled to work, but not exceed twenty one (21) hours at the basic hourly rates, to be taken within either five (5) calendar days before or after the day of the funeral. For the purposes of this clause the immediate family of the employee shall be defined as: Mother, Father, Spouse, Children, Brother, Sister, Mother- in-Law, Father-in-Law, Grandparents. In respect of attendance at the funeral of the full time employee’s Sister-in- Law or Brother-in-Law, the full time employee shall be entitled to one (1) working day off with pay within three (3) calendar days before or after the funeral. The term “Spouse” shall be deemed to include a Common-Law Spouse provided that the full time employee has previously declared the common law relationship in writing to The Centre in the manner and form prescribed by The Centre.
BEREAVEMENT AND JURY DUTY. Leaves are available to staff in ten (10) hour shift positions on the same basis as regular eight (8) hour staff. Participating staff will be entitled to four (4) ten (10) hour shifts for bereavement leave as substitution for the five (5) days allowable in the current MOU.

An employee who has completed one hundred (100) working days who is required to be absent from work in order to attend the funeral of a member of the employee’s immediate family, as defined in Section 2 herein, will be paid up to a total of three (3) days’ pay to be computed at eight (8) or twelve (12) times his straight-time hourly rate for the two (2) days preceding and the day of the funeral based on the scheduled shift or for the day of the funeral and the two (2) days following the funeral based on the scheduled shift. Such pay shall not be payable unless the employee attends the funeral. If the funeral is held on a day in which the employee is not scheduled to work, or if either of the two (2) days preceding or following the funeral falls on days on which the employee is not scheduled to work, no bereavement pay will be payable for those specified days.
BEREAVEMENT AND JURY DUTY. 15.01 - In case of a death in the immediate family of an employee, the Company shall grant leave of absence with pay, not to exceed three (3) days at the employee’s normal straight time hourly rate, as may be necessary for the purpose of attending the funeral and making funeral arrangements, providing the three (3) days fall within the employees normal work week. Immediate family shall be meant to include spouse (including Common-law), mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother, sister, brother-in-law or sister-in-law, children, minors under the legal guardianship of the Employee or spouse, grandparents, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, stepparents, stepchildren, same sex partner and grandparents of current spouse . When an Employee travels out of the Province or a distance of over four hundred (400) Kilometers, one way, to attend or arrange the funeral an additional two (2) day’s leave of absence with pay shall be granted.

Immediate family is defined as the employee’s spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, child, step-child, grandchild, son-in-law, daughter-in-law or step-parent. Two days paid leave will be granted to attend the funeral of an employee’s grandparent. One day paid leave will be granted to attend the funeral of an employee’s aunt, uncle, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and father-in-law. In all cases, pay will be eight (8) hours pay at the employee’s straight time hourly rate. An unpaid leave to attend the funeral of a non-relative may be granted upon advance request from the employee.
BEREAVEMENT AND JURY DUTY. 21.01 When a death occurs in the immediate family of a regular full-time or part-time employee such employee shall be allowed up to three (3) days absence from work without loss of regular salary up to and including the day of the funeral. An employee will not be paid for such days if they are not her/his scheduled working days. The term “immediate family” includes father, mother, spouse, or common-law spouse, child, or brother or sister of the employee, or any relative of the employee who resides permanently in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides. The Company will give consideration to an extension of time in situations where there may be extenuating circumstances. Requests for such consideration should be taken to the Branch Manager or designate.

  • Paid Jury or Court Witness Duty Leave The Employer shall grant leave of absence without loss of seniority to an Employee who serves as a juror or witness in any court. The Employer shall pay such an Employee the difference between normal earnings and the payment received for jury service or court witness, excluding payment for traveling, meals or other expenses. The Employee will present proof of service and the amount of pay received. Time spent by an Employee required to serve as a court witness in any matter arising out of her employment, shall be considered as time worked at the appropriate rate of pay.

  • Jury & Witness Duty (This clause is applicable to part-time employees only) "If an employee is required to serve as a juror in any court of law, or is required to attend as a witness in a court proceeding in which the Crown is a party, or is required by subpoena to attend a court of law or coroner's inquest in connection with a case arising from the employee's duties at the Hospital, the employee shall not lose regular pay because of such attendance provided that the employee:

  • Jury Duty 31.1 An employee who is summoned for jury duty and is required to lose time from his assignment as a result thereof, shall be paid for actual time lost with a maximum of one basic day's pay at the straight time rate of his position for each day lost, less the amount allowed him for jury duty for each such day excluding allowances paid by the court for meals, lodging or transportation, subject to the following requirements and limitations:

  • ARTICLE JURY DUTY (a) Where an employee is required by subpoena to attend a court of law or xxxxxxx's inquest in connection with a case arising from the employee's duties on the premises of the Employer on his regularly scheduled day off, the Employer will attempt to reschedulethe employee's regular day off, it being understoodthat any rescheduling shall not result in the payment of any premium pay. Where the Employer is unable to reschedule the employee and, as a result, he is required to attend on a regular day off he shall be paid for all hours actually spent at such hearing at his regular straight time hourly rate. It is agreed if this occurs on the employee's scheduledworking day the employee will be paid as above. An employee requiredto servejury duty shall be paid the difference betweenwhat he would have earned for his scheduled hours, (without taking into account any shift premium or the like) and the fees received pursuant to the performance of jury duty. This will be affected by the employee signing over his jury fees less expense money received from the authorities for meals and lodging and the Employer will continue the regular salary payments. The employee is to notify his supervisor as soon as possible after receipt of notice of selection for jury duty. The employee will come to work during those regularly scheduled hours that he is not required to attend at court.

  • Jury Duty/Court Leave 1. Any employee who is absent due to a court appearance to testify on behalf of the school or who is subpoenaed to testify because of an incident which arose out of the employee’s being a witness to events at school, shall be granted paid professional leave upon the employee submitting to the Administration a copy of the subpoena as verification for the leave.
